Honu Swim Company provides swim lessons at private homes and community pools. With over 10 years of combined experience, our mission is to make learning how to swim more convenient and fun. Drowning is the #1 leading cause of death for children under the age of 5, therefore our first priority is teaching people of all ages to be safe around the water.
We believe that the standard group lessons at swimming facilities do not show the results that many of our clients expect. Honu delivers quicker results through patient and specialized instruction in private lessons. Our gentle method teaches water safety in and around the water while creating a fun experience for the whole family.
The Hawaiian Honu, or Green Sea Turtle, is the only indigenous reptile found in Hawaii. The Honu is a symbol of good luck in the form of a guardian spirit. There is a Hawaiian legend of a large Honu who would transform into a girl and serve as a protector of the children who would play along the shore.
Although we are based in South Florida, the ocean is an important aspect of our lives. We are grateful when graced by the presence of these amazing animals. Naming the company after the Honu is our way of paying tribute to this endangered species who have inhabited this planet long before we arrived.
